The James Beard House Gala Dinner is much more than a single evening of exceptional dining—it’s the culmination of an immersive educational journey.

During TuttoToscana NYC Week, students from Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry, Hospitality Management, and Food & Wine take part in a week-long experiential learning program where they apply their skills in real professional settings. Throughout the week, they collaborate as kitchen brigades, front-of-house teams, event coordinators, and culinary educators, gaining hands-on experience alongside faculty and industry professionals.

Their journey includes a series of educational and public events designed to showcase the richness of Tuscan culinary culture:

• Sapori di Casa: A Taste of Tuscany, an interactive cooking workshop where students guide participants through traditional Tuscan recipes while sharing the stories, techniques, and culture behind each dish.

• Jersey Fresh Meets Italy. An immersive workshop exploring the connection between New Jersey’s local ingredients and Italian culinary traditions through sustainability, regional cuisine, and hands-on cooking.

• Student Demo: Culinary Elegance – Same Ingredients, Different Flavors, where students demonstrate how technique, creativity, and presentation transform simple ingredients into refined culinary experiences.

The week culminates at the James Beard Foundation with “La Mia Toscana”, an exclusive Gala Dinner celebrating the culinary heritage of Tuscany through a contemporary tasting menu inspired by traditional recipes, local ingredients, seasonality, and Italian hospitality. During this prestigious event, students work together to deliver a professional fine dining experience while representing Tuscan culture on one of the world’s most respected culinary stages.
